Undefined Moral Fiction

“Just do what you have to do, do not mind me”, said the male spider; he was trying to make his voice firm, though it still could not conceal the fact that he is trembling with fear.

“But I cannot harm you! We have known each other for life, and you must live to see our kids growing up”-the female spider said, with tears dropping down her legs. She held her head still, trying to stop the cannibalistic frenzy hopelessly. Now that she had had a little control over her mind, though so ephemeral that it can slip away anytime, the stream of images from the past is released and filled her mind. Everything just relived and appeared right before her eyes.

It seems just like she was born yesterday. Since she found her way out of the egg, she had to eat some of her brothers and sisters in order to survive. There was no food on the web, and her mother abandoned the family right after she was laid, so she soon learned that if she does not be bold and ruthless to kill her brothers and sisters, they will kill her instead. During her childhood, she visited her mother a few times. Not being able to withhold her curiousness, one time, the young spider asked her mom:

“Where is daddy?”

Her mom, not showing any emotion, answered:

“He is dead.”

“Why did he die at such a young age?”

“I ate him.” Her mother replied with a straight face, not a sign of regret did she show.
Horrified, the female spider ran away from her mother’s web without saying goodbye and never came back. “How can my mother be so evil like that? She surely does not love my father and only cares about herself. I will never be like her!” she promised to herself.

But now, she was not herself anymore. After laying all those eggs, her body seemed to be wearisome. More terrifyingly, the lunatic hunger was overwhelming her, turning her into a beast. The moment she had got a hold of herself, all she saw was her dear husband, lying flat on the web, grasping every gulp of life. She had poisoned him with her virulent venom.

“It is all right, honey, I understand. It is your nature to be like this after we mate. I do not blame you. Just remember to hide our kids safely and tell them when they grow up about how much I love them.” His voice became weaker and weaker, and life seems to be drained out along as every word he said.

She tried to stop, but her effort was futile. Instead of the wonderful feeling after any meal, her heart was shattered. All that night, her tears was mixing with the heavy drops of the summer rain.
