Outliers

The reading that I have enjoyed most was a book named: “Outliers” by Malcom Gladwell. In my opinion, this book is a fantastic one and I gained great benefits from it as a student. It gives an interesting new aspect into the reasons to success.

In this book, Malcom Gladwell had totally convinced the readers that success does not related much to the intelligence, or IQ as we often say, of a person. He pointed out and proved that the people who are successful right now are the ones who are benefited from luck many in different ways. They  had a chance to practice, to make their talents cherish and be found or even to be born in the right month and year in mysterious ways that can not be explained. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs success’s mystery was clarified as having a continuous row of fortunate events.

Furthermore, the author also stated that being intelligent is not enough, to succeed in life you have to practice your talent for approximately ten thousand hours, giving the life of Mozart and the Beatles as examples.
Finally, I believe the author when he gave the opinion that a genius can be wasted and never have a chance to cherish if his talent was not cared of and fostered. Comparing Robert Oppenheimer and Christopher Langan, whose IQ are equal but one is successful and the other does not,  Malcom Gladwell had broadened my mind in many ways.

Now I have learned to always think outside of the box and to consider a problem in many aspects like him. I was also motivated to continue to learn and keeping up the good work at school because now I knew that being successful or not does not depends on whether I was born a genius or not, It depends on how I take my opportunity and spend effort on my future.
